[edit] Project Summary

The aim of this project is to provide a multi-level infrastructure of interconnected testbeds of large scale wireless sensor networks for research purposes. The testbeds are located at the nine different sites of the participating universities. Each testbed consists of 50 to 200 nodes of heterogeneous hardware.

The infrastructure allows users to create a virtual testbed comprised of a chosen subset of nodes at different locations, of different hardware and – if desired – even virtual nodes running in a simulation framework such as Shawn (http://shawn.sf.net). Furthermore we will provide WISELIB, a code library with basic algorithms, data structures and hardware abstractions for the different heterogeneous hardware platforms and the simulation tool Shawn. With this tool one can implement an application for test purposes in the simulator which is then ready-to-run on all WISEBED hardware platforms.

Users can login to the testbed facility remotely, configure the testbed for their needs, upload their application, and monitor the runtime of the experiment and store runtime data like sensor input or radio characters to follow the experiment in real-time.
